A Green Place to Be: The Creation of Central Park

One of my favorite things to buy on vacation with my kids is a book about the place we’re visiting. A Green Place to Be: The Creation of Central Park, written & illustrated by Ashley Benham Yazdani, (Candlewick Press) is a perfect example. I love the whimsical illustrations and the interesting facts we learned along the way while reading this book. Did you know that Calvert Vaux and Frederick Law Olmsted won a design contest with their vision for what would become Central Park? This included a special section for children with a nearby dairy where you could get fresh milk after playing. So ideal. The more you know, friends.
