The Algonquin Hotel
Kiddos sad about leaving the cat at home while they’re in NYC? No worries! Stay at The Algonquin Hotel & snuggle all you like with the hotel’s resident feline, Hamlet. In true “only in NYC” fashion, a cat has been in residence at the hotel since the 1920s (males have always been called Hamlet; girls, Matilda). As the story goes, in 1932, a stray cat wandered into the lobby of The Algonquin, just days after the death of the hotel owner's cat. How serendipitous! Since then, the hotel has always had a resident cat.
I’m eyeing two hotel packages in particular that look like they may be a hit with kids — their “Dine with a Broadway Cast Member” which combines a room package with tickets to popular shows like Wicked, Aladdin, Harry Potter and More, as well as the “Experience Spectacular this Holiday Season” which will give you access to preferred seating for the Radio City Rockettes.
